The first full trailer of the long-awaited Queen and Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, has been released onto the internet. Starring Mr. Robot’s Rami Malek as Mercury, the band’s extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury, who died in 1991. A short teaser on Queen’s official Youtube channel was released on Monday.
Bohemian Rhapsody is a celebration of Queen and Mercury, who defied stereotypes to become one of the most beloved entertainers worldwide. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound.
Bohemian Rhapsody will be released on 24 October in the UK, 1 November in Australia and 2 November in the US.
They have been working on the film since 2010 when it was announced that Sacha Baron Cohen was chosen to play Mercury. Later in 2013, Baron Cohen left the project citing “creative differences” with Mercury’s former bandmates and the guitarist Brian May later called Baron Cohen “an arse”.
Later, its director, Bryan Singer, was fired after reportedly taking too much time off for “health concerns”. Then the project ran into further difficulties. The director of “Eddie the Eagle” Dexter Fletcher replaced him midway through production.
